CPU Mining

Quick start exercise:

  1. Choose your coin
    • In this example we will choose a coin called LightBit who’s symbol is LITB.
  2. Download the chosen coin’s wallet
    • In the world of CPU coins, each coin will have it’s own wallet. Download the Lightbit wallet from Github: https://github.com/LightBitProject/LightBit/releases/tag/v.0.17.0
    • Select, download and install the version that will work with your operating system. Follow the detailed instructions as shown on the Github page
    • Now run the wallet. It will take several hours or maybe even a day for the wallet to complete synchronizing with the LightBit network. Don’t give up!
    • While your wallet is synchronizing you can get a receiving address from your wallet, it will look something like this: Li9GXWiqKd6K7mgjrmcWFffy8qaRVa9pKM
      • (DON’T use the above address unless you want donate all your hard earned coins to Professor Pie).
    • This address is a public address. No one can use it unless you share the key with them.

  3. Download and install a CPU mining program. There is a list of recommended programs below.
    • IMPORTANT!!! – Your anti-virus program WILL catch and quarantine your mining program if you don’t provide an exclusion for it.
    • Now go to Pool.CoinPie.Academy and get the information you’ll need to configure your mining program. You will see a form where you will enter your wallet address and mining rig name. Use the address you got from your wallet and give your mining an original name like “RIG1”. You can choose any name which pleases you.
  4. Start your miner!!!
    • Here is an example command you can use as a template: cpuminer.exe -a yespowerlitb -o stratum+tcp://pool.coinpie.academy:6234 -u Li9GXWiqKd6K7mgjrmcWFffy8qaRVa9pKM.RIG1 -p c=LITB
    • Again, be sure and change that wallet address or you’ll be making a kind donation to Professor Pie.
